Designed for Lasell University Runway 2024 "Non-Textiles" scene. The purpose of this runway scene is to create a look without using fabric/traditional fashion textiles. I created my look "Plastic Memories" by crocheting Rainbow Loom rubber bands together for the top and manipulating a garbage bag for the skirt. The top has plastic Learning Links for straps and fastens in the back with shoelaces decked out in charms. The skirt combines the garbage bag with black duct tape to create the waistband and belt loops, with a functioning zipper in the back. The look is completed with a handmade pony bead "Kandi cuff" belt and Silly Bands head to toe! I was inspired by all of the fun crafts, including Rainbow Loom and Duct Tape, that my generation was obsessed with. This piece represents many fond memories of my childhood.
